Chris feels fortunate to have enjoyed a challenging and rewarding military career with the New Zealand Defence Force and in risk management abroad. As a New Zealand Māori, he has been exposed to a variety of leadership roles in dynamic and challenging environments.

Relationship management and strategic risk management have been central themes underpinning much of his operational work. Operational planning and project management have been staple functions in many of the posts he has held.

During various operational and international deployments, Chris has gained cross-cultural insights and empathy across the globe. He continues to enjoy opportunities to explore different cultures and perspectives. More recent roles have offered him practical insights into the importance of strategic relationship management across a variety of domains.

The drive to learn remains a guiding influence for Chris. Over the last twenty years, he has found great satisfaction in enabling the learning of others while advancing his own education and professional development.
