Daniel James
Co-founder and Executive Leadership Coach, Centrepoint
Daniel James helps organisations find and fix where workplace pressure is building before it costs them their best people. His resilience protocols reduced stress-related absence by 60% in a 3,000-person organisation. He is booked for keynotes, workshops, executive coaching and speaker panels on leadership, wellbeing, working under pressure and what it takes to stay steady when everything is stacking up.
In his early twenties, Daniel built a business turning over millions a year, before his business partner emptied the shop, his flat and the accounts while he was on holiday. He was then homeless, living in his car, and whilst working three jobs got qualified as a Personal Trainer and Life Coach to help others going through tough seasons. He joined the British Army soon after, spending nearly a decade as an officer and Army Commando, earning his green beret, leading teams through extreme pressure and developing resilience protocols. He led soldiers on operations and at one point commanded a squadron of around 300 personnel, spread across 17 countries, and spent his final years teaching leadership at Sandhurst.
As a Defence Health & Wellbeing Advisor, he sat on the board of MOD specialists and supported his Commanding Officer on the health and readiness of the regiment, with reach into the Brigade. It was not just his own resilience under pressure that mattered, but everyone else's. Daniel has experienced stress and burnout first hand and has built his knowledge through lived experiences, not just training. Now he teaches teams how pressure builds inside an organisation, how to notice it early and build a team of integrated leaders who understand their employees are more than just a number, they're people.
Daniel is now co-founder of Centrepoint with his wife Lily, helping HR Directors, Chief People Officers and CEOs fix the root causes of workplace pressure using PULSE, a diagnostic that shows where pressure is building early. His thesis is plain: it's the system that's fragile, not the people. He hosts Under Pressure, is the author of The Way Home, and lives in Hoi An, Vietnam, with Lily and their two sons. He also coaches and competes nationally in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, and runs a local men's circle with international retreats and workshops.
Audiences leave his sessions calmer, clearer, and ready to lead people under real pressure.
