Patrick has had a varied career, the last 13 years of which have been spent as in-house counsel to various organizations. During this time, he has advised boards and executives on legal and risk issues, worked closely with regulators and industry bodies, and done his best to keep his organizations out of the legal spotlight.

For the past five years, he has worked with three well-known banks on regulatory and legal issues. This includes providing advice on various regulations and consultations, such as the Anti-Money Laundering and Countering the Financing of Terrorism Act, the Banking (Prudential Supervision) Act, the Credit Contracts and Consumer Finance Act, the Deposit Takers Act, the Financial Markets Conduct Act, and the Reserve Bank Act, among others. He has helped organizations develop their risk and obligations registers, advised on legal compliance issues, and collaborated with regulators and industry bodies on consultations.

Before his banking experience, he advised ACC's board and executive on legal and governance issues as a company secretary. His background is in aviation, where he held various roles related to the industry.
